Our Mission
The mission statement of WBGL and the Illinois Bible Institute is:
"Reaching people for Christ through media."
Our foundation verse is II Corinthians 4:5:
"For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake."
Our organization exists to:
- Honor Christ
- Encourage followers of Christ
- Attract people to Christ
WBGL and IBI Media Ministries offers a message of hope and unity to the Body of Christ. Our staff consists of devoted people of prayer, integrity, and compassion. We are committed to a high quality of workmanship and strive diligently to operate with fiscal responsibility, demonstrating principles of Biblical stewardship.
Our corporate headquarters and the Illinois Bible Institute is located at Lake Williamson Christian Center, 3 miles south of Carlinville IL on State Route 4.
WBGL History
The Illinois Bible Institute, educational corporation of the Illinois District Council of the Assemblies of God, is dedicated to offering Christian radio throughout Illinois, Western Indiana, and Northwest Missouri. We want to assist the local church in the inspiration of believers, in providing a positive source of encouragement to family development, and in gospel outreach to the general public.
The Radio Department began in August 1974. In September 1975, WIBI-FM, 91.1, came on the air in Carlinville IL. A second station, WBGL-FM in Champaign began serving east central Illinois in October 1982. WCIC-FM, 91.5, Peoria began serving central Illinois in November 1983. WCFL-FM, 104.7, Morris came on the air May 1994. WTSG-FM, 90.1, came on the air in 1997. All are noncommercial and listener-supported.
Illinois Bible Institute is located at Lake Williamson Christian Center, 3 miles south of Carlinville on State Route 4. At the same location are the state office of the Illinois District Assemblies of God and the New Life Media offices.
